Product overview
About classic rubber hawai flip-flops
The classic hawai slipper is the most widely produced open footwear in South Asia and a staple of promotional and resort ranges worldwide. It is made from a rubber sole, usually with a white or coloured textured top and a coloured edge, and a moulded rubber or PVC Y-strap. The reference shows a white footbed, blue sole edge and blue strap.
Soles are either die-cut from rubber sheet, which keeps tooling simple, or compression-moulded, which allows contoured footbeds and logos in the mould. Straps are moulded with plugs that are pushed through holes punched in the sole and locked underneath.
Customisation centres on colour: strap colour, top and bottom sole colours, and footbed texture or print. Logos are commonly placed on the strap or printed or embossed on the footbed.
OEM: your design

Branding without new tooling
- Insole printing. Logo printed or hot-stamped on the sock liner.
- Hangtags. Printed swing tags attached to the pair.
- Barcode labels. EAN/UPC labels on boxes or polybags, from codes the buyer supplies.
- Carton markings. Shipping marks, size breakdown and destination printed or labelled on export cartons.
Branding that needs tooling
- Strap and footbed logos. Logo moulded or embossed in strap or footbed; requires mould inserts or dies.
- Embossed logos. Heat and pressure with a metal die raise the logo on leather or synthetic.
- Screen printing. Ink printed through a screen; one screen per colour and size group.
Custom lasts, outsole moulds, cutting dies and branding tools may add tooling costs and raise minimum quantities. They are quoted separately before you commit.
Sizing and specifications
Sizing and technical specifications
Size conversions are approximate and vary by last and brand; they are not a production grading chart, and your own brand size chart replaces them if you have one. Technical measurements are set on your last and samples, recorded on the approved sample and controlled in bulk.
Flip-flops are usually sized in whole or paired sizes (e.g. 40/41). Sole outline and strap length are graded per size; children's sizes need their own dies or moulds.

How to measure foot length
- 01Stand on a sheet of paper with full weight on the foot, heel against a wall.
- 02Mark the tip of the longest toe and measure from the wall to the mark in millimetres.
- 03Measure both feet and use the longer one; measure later in the day when feet are largest.
- 04Compare with the foot-length column, not the shoe's outside length.

Testing and compliance
Frameworks relevant to this style. Obligations depend on where and how the product is sold, and the brand placing it on the market carries them. General information, not legal advice.
EU REACH restrictions (Annex XVII)Market obligation
Restricts chemicals in articles sold in the EU, including chromium VI in leather in contact with skin (entry 47, limit 3 mg/kg), certain azo dyes, PAHs in rubber parts and dimethyl fumarate. Leather and component suppliers' test reports are collected per order where a buyer requires them.
EU footwear labelling (Directive 94/11/EC)Market obligation
Footwear sold in the EU must indicate the material of the upper, the lining and sock, and the outsole, using the directive's pictograms or wording. Labels are produced to the buyer's market requirements.
EU General Product Safety Regulation (EU) 2023/988Market obligation
Applies since 13 December 2024 to consumer products placed on the EU market, including traceability information on the product or packaging. The obligations sit with the economic operator placing the product on the market; we supply the production information they need.
UK footwear composition labellingMarket obligation
The UK keeps equivalent requirements for indicating the composition of upper, lining and sock, and outsole on footwear sold to consumers.
US requirements for children's productsMarket obligation
Children's footwear sold in the US falls under CPSIA requirements (including lead limits and tracking labels) where applicable; testing is carried out by accredited third-party labs arranged per order.
Slip resistance (ISO 13287 method)Optional test, on request
Slip resistance can be measured on the finished outsole where a buyer needs data for an open-footwear or outdoor product. Results depend on compound, tread and test surface.
Khairay Footwear does not state any certification, approval or test result for this style unless documentation exists for your order.

Classic Rubber Hawai Flip-Flops: questions buyers ask
Can the strap carry our logo?
Yes. Logos can be moulded into the strap with a mould insert, or printed on it. Moulded logos need tooling; printing does not.
Do you make die-cut or moulded soles?
Both are possible. Die-cut sheet soles are economical with simple tooling; moulded soles allow contoured footbeds and in-mould logos.
Which sole thicknesses are available?
Thickness depends on the rubber sheet gauges or the mould design. Options are confirmed on samples; we do not publish fixed figures.
Can we choose different colours for the top and bottom of the sole?
Yes. Two-colour sheet gives the classic coloured edge; colours are matched to your references.
Can you make children's sizes?
Yes, with their own dies or moulds and strap sizes. Children's products may need additional market testing such as CPSIA in the US.
How are flip-flops packed?
Usually paired with a hang card or in polybags, then packed in cartons by size ratio. Boxes and branded headers are available on request.
Can we submit our own flip-flop design?
Yes. These are reference styles; the RFQ accepts your designs, artwork and samples without choosing one.
What information do you need for a flip-flop quotation?
Sole and strap type, colours, branding, size range (adult and children's), quantity per colour, packaging and destination market.
Do you publish MOQs for flip-flops?
No single MOQ applies: it depends on die-cut or moulded construction, colours, strap type and branding. It is confirmed in the quotation.
