Category overview
About school footwear
The category covers black lace-ups, loafers for older pupils, hook-and-loop uniform shoes for younger children, and plain sports shoes for PE. Most are black or brown to match uniform codes, with non-marking sole options for school halls.
Children's sizes need their own last proportions, not scaled-down adult lasts. We develop junior and senior runs separately, and many programmes include half sizes or width fittings, agreed on the size set.
Children's footwear may need market-specific testing, for example under the US CPSIA or EU REACH restrictions. Testing is arranged through accredited laboratories per order.

Technical considerations
What matters when developing school footwear
The design decisions we work through with you before sampling. Each is confirmed on samples, not assumed.
- 01
Durability
Hard-wearing rubber or PU outsoles, reinforced stitching and toe bumpers or scuff caps are the main durability choices.
- 02
Fit for growing feet
Junior lasts with enough toe room, adjustable closures and width fittings help children's fit. Fit is checked on child wearers in the core sizes.
- 03
Closures by age
Hook-and-loop and bar straps suit younger pupils; laces and loafers suit older pupils. Mixed ranges share materials and soles to keep minimums practical.
- 04
Uniform rules
Colour, sole colour, logo visibility and heel height often follow uniform codes. Send yours with the RFQ.
- 05
Easy care
Corrected-grain leather and coated synthetics wipe clean and take polish; linings and insoles are chosen for breathability.
