Category overview

About army & tactical boots

The category covers lace-up tactical boots, tall combat-style leather boots, lighter tactical boots for patrol and training, jungle-style boots for hot and wet climates, and high-ankle field boots.

Most programmes come from security companies, uniform suppliers, outdoor and tactical brands, and distributors who supply agencies. Where boots are for a tender, the buyer's specification decides materials, construction and tests, and we review it for feasibility before quoting.

We make no claim of approval by any military, police or government buyer. Water resistance, slip resistance and protective properties are only stated when tested to a named method for your order.

Intended buyers

  • Tactical and outdoor footwear brands
  • Uniform and workwear suppliers
  • Security and private-protection companies
  • Distributors supplying agencies, subject to their specifications

Technical considerations

What matters when developing army & tactical boots

The design decisions we work through with you before sampling. Each is confirmed on samples, not assumed.

  • 01

    Ankle support

Shaft height, collar padding and the stiffness of the quarters set ankle support. They are agreed on the proto sample and checked on wearers.

  • 02

    Heel counter and shank

A firm moulded or leatherboard counter holds the heel; a steel, fibreglass or TPU shank supports the arch on uneven ground.

  • 03

    Sole and lug pattern

Rubber lug depth and spacing affect grip and how mud clears. Stock outsoles are available in several profiles; custom soles need moulds.

  • 04

    Construction

Cemented, direct-injected and welted constructions each balance weight, durability and resoling differently. Availability is confirmed per project.

  • 05

    Climate

Drainage vents, quick-dry linings and open lugs suit hot, wet climates; insulated or membrane linings need documented supply and testing for any claim.

  • 06

    Lacing and closures

Eyelets, speed hooks and side zips are chosen for fast fitting and security; hardware finish is agreed for durability and reflection.

Development

Sizing, sampling, MOQ and quality

Sizing

  • EU 39–47 is a typical adult run; women's lasts and smaller sizes on request
  • Instep and ankle girth are critical; checked on wearers in the core size
  • Wide fittings are agreed on the last before the size set

Sampling

  • Proto sample to confirm design, pattern and construction
  • Fit sample on the agreed last, checked on wearers in the core size
  • Size set across the full size run to confirm grading
  • Pre-production sample approved as the sealed bulk standard

MOQ

  • Sole choice (stock or custom mould) is the main MOQ driver
  • Leather and textile minimums per colour apply
  • Tender quantities and delivery splits are considered in the quotation

Quality checkpoints

  • Incoming material check: leather thickness, textile weight and coating against approved swatches
  • Stitch density and reinforcement at eyelets, quarters and stress points
  • Lasting: toe and heel shape, symmetry and counter position
  • Sole bond line, injection flash and alignment; peel checks on samples
  • Final inspection: pairing, size marking, cleanliness and packaging
  • Shaft height and symmetry between left and right boots
  • Hardware fixing: eyelets, speed hooks and zips on every pair

FAQ

Army & Tactical questions

Can you make boots to a military or tender specification?

We can review the specification for feasibility and quote against it. Conformity has to be shown by the tests the specification requires; no approval is claimed in advance.

Are the boots water-resistant?

No water-resistance claim is made unless the finished boot is tested to a stated method for your order. Membrane linings can be specified where supply is documented.

Which colours can you produce?

Black, brown, coyote, olive and other colours to your specification, confirmed on material swatches and samples.

Can you add our logo?

Yes. Embossed, printed or woven logos on the shaft, tongue and insole, and moulded outsole logos with a custom sole.
